Stall Singers

April 16, 2010

A few weeks ago, i was in a public restroom, and the lady in the stall next to me was singing.  Not softly humming, but belting out a church song that reverberated off the walls.  I know it was close to Easter, but i think we can save the hallelujah chorus for another throne room.

Who does this?  i’ve heard hummers and people quietly singing along to whatever muffled sounds were coming from the bar or club, but i’ve never quite heard the vibrato she was providing…at least not in a public restroom.  Granted, the acoustics in bathrooms are usually pretty good, so maybe she was on her way to a choir audition.  Maybe she thought she was alone, which might explain why she chose the one right next to me, rather than one of the other twenty available stalls.  Or maybe she just felt the need to praise Jesus!

I have to admit, i am guilty of singing in the shower, but not publicly, and certainly never while i was taking care of other business.

Sometimes i’ll sing “Another One Bites The Dust” when I’m doing the bizness.
