Camping Extravaganza 2010

May 30, 2010

Camping is awesome!  I never got to go as a child and had my first hiking and camping experiences with a friend from high school.  What i like most about camping, besides being surrounded by nature’s beauty, is just sittin’ around a campfire, essentially doing nothing.  And the smell of campfire on your clothes.

The weekend was a little wet, but shortly after i arrived Saturday, the rain broke just long enough to allow us the time for a 2 1/2 mile hike.  It was a challenge in some areas, but one spot felt like we were in a fairy land, tall grass swaying waist-high and wildflowers basking in the sun.  We even encountered what looked like a broccoli flower.  I’ve never seen a plant like it.

There is something rejuvenating about camping.  Maybe it’s the realization you really could survive without modern-day conveniences.  A hugondous fire helps, too.  Fire is so primal!   i love fire!
